WE’REBACK!

New URL. New chapter. Same love.

It’s been a little while, but now we’re back—hopefully with the same heart and excitement for art, music, family, comics, and love on the West Coast.

Built in Marin. Fueled by family adventures, live music, comic shelves, California light, and a stubborn belief that the old web was more fun.

The story behind the reboot

A site with a few lives in it.

This started as a single-guy emo blog in the early 2000s. As my life grew and changed on the West Coast, Leftcoastlove became a little more family-centered. Then we went quiet after I lost Leftcoastlove.com during the pandemic.

The old domain is currently held by someone more than happy to sell it back to me for $5,000. Rather than do that, we’re rebranding as LeftcoastloveSF and moving forward.

These days I’m working through a huge to-be-read pile of graphic novels, hardcovers, omnibuses, and collected editions. I’m turning that reading journey into practical reader guides. We’ll still talk about albums, concerts, and new music—now with my wife and daughter joining many of those adventures.

Last but not least, I’m hoping to bring back some of the less-whiny parts of the original Leftcoastlove: old essays, refreshed graphics, and a fun look back at the photos and stories that helped get us here.

I’m super excited to be back at this project. Feedback, comments, and unexpected side quests are welcome. Leftcoastlove. Peace.

The launchpad

A few live sites to start with.

These are already online. The full directory—including podcasts, Footbag, Jeff the Shark, John Wick Day, and more—lives on the Reader guides and websites page.

Meanwhile, on the mic

Heroes & High Notes

Explore the intersection of comic books and music in an old-school podcast experience. LeftcoastloveSF is the companion space for extra takes, reading detours, family concert stories, and anything that did not fit into the episode.
